Revitalize Your Skin With This Simple Daily Skincare Hack
I’m big into skincare and for the last few month’s I’ve been totally obsessed with my Gua Sha tool from Mount Lai. Over the last two years, I’ve been feeling as though my skin has been losing it’s tightness, which is natural as we age. Because of this, I was in need of a non-surgical fix. I’m always willing to try new things when it comes to skincare and love to share the things that work for me. I also believe that using quality skincare products as you get older is key to maintaining a youthful appearance.
Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese Medicine tool that helps to smooth, lift and firm your skin. There are salons that offer Gua Sha facial massages, and though I’ve never been to one, I do enjoy using the tool on myself. If you get the energetic magic behind stones and crystals, then you would agree that the properties of these stones have an impact as well. I use the Jade variation because it’s cooling and balancing, and it’s known as the “stone of eternal youth.” It’s also available in Rose Quartz (which promotes self love), Amethyst (which promotes stress relief and relaxation), and Black Obsidian (which is warming and great for acne prone skin).
I prefer the smoothness and control of the gua sha tool over using facial rollers, personally. However, I encourage you to explore the varying tools based on your personal needs and discover what works best for you. I’m prone to getting aggressive knots along my jaw line and this baby helps smooth them all out. It’s also great for your brow line as you age and begin to develop that crease in between your brows from frowning so much! Potential benefits include a reduction in puffiness, less muscle tension in the face, improved circulation resulting in a more radiant glow, and the promotion of lymphatic drainage.
I can’t even begin to tell you how relaxing it’s been to massage out some of the muscle tension in my face. I use it daily and it’s made a noticeable difference in the firming of my skin. In fact, I love it so much that I purchased one for my mom, who’s now a recent convert. They’re fairly affordable ranging from $28-$34 a pop and worth every penny. Just be extra careful when handling, because stones are delicate in nature. If you drop one, it will 100% break in half. I’m on my second one because the first slipped out of my hand and onto the hard tile floor!
Leave a comment to let me know any other issues you’ve been dealing with related to skincare, lifestyle or health, and I’ll try to post a helpful hack on my blog.
