Aligning Your Self Care Practices With The Phases Of The Moon

Energy work based on the phases of the moon.

Many cultures throughout history have observed correlations between lunar phases and their emotional and physical states. In fact, it is believed that the gravitational pull of the moon can influence the water content in our bodies, similar to how it affects ocean tides. Because of this influence, some individuals may experience bloating, heightened emotions, increased restlessness, or fluctuations in energy levels during these lunar phases.

Now I’m no expert on the moon, but I DO find that the lunar phases create opportunities for us to cleanse, release, and heal so that we may manifest our deepest desires. If it serves you to let go of low energy, to clarify and focus on your needs and to invite new intentions, then the full moon and new moon phases are probably great opportunities for you to self-reflect and prioritize self care.

This month, the Full Moon is on June 4th. Use this time to look at your emotional and spiritual balance, your health and your career. Clear out all of the noise that isn’t serving you…releasing relationships you’ve outgrown, limiting thought patterns, and self-sabotaging habits. Let go of negativity and align your heart with the vibration of kindness, love and forgiveness. Full moons can make people sensitive, moody, upset and fatigued, so take care of your mind and body during this time. In general, it’s a good time to cleanse your energy and welcome closure.

The New Moon, on the other hand, is on June 18th. This is the best day in the month to release extra weight, toxins and stagnant energy. Consider drinking lots of water and herbal tea, adding light fruits and veggies to your diet, hitting the sauna, and increasing the quality of your rest with Reiki or massage. Acknowledge the progress you’ve made since the last New Moon, clarify your goals and set clear intentions. This is generally an opportune time to make space for new beginnings, start new projects, and bring high vibrational energy with you into the new cycle.
